You Love Who You Love

Hey loves! Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and were spoiled tremendously. Tim and I opted for more of a quiet night in and no gifts this year as we have 5 weddings to go to this year and a trip planned. The only thing I did ask for was for him to do a shoot with me, and though he hesitated, he was a complete natural in front of the camera. We had so much fun just laughing and having fun that the photos came out nicely candid and not too stiff or staged! Also a huge thanks to Cara, my photographer and friend who has so much patience!

Once the shoot was done, we headed over to our favourite coffee shop, the ministry of coffee for my favourite vanilla latte in the whole city! I don't know what they do but it's incredible! Thanks Adam if you ever read this for always making an awesome latte! They also make awesome vegetarian sandwiches but that's talk for another post. Would you guys want to see an Ottawa cafe guide?

We then headed home for a relaxing night! We bought vegetarian samosas and quinoa and cheese stuffed peppers from our local Farmboy! Which was so tasty by the way! We then dived into some macaron cookies, Lindor chocolates and wine all whilst watching Friends from College and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (I'm a sucker for makeover shows).
That was pretty much how the night ended, I went to bed because I'm apparently an 82 year old woman and Tim stayed up until 4:00am because he's apparently a teenage boy while his parents are out of town.

How was your Valentine's Day?

You Make Me Smile With My Heart ❤️️

Hey lovers and friends, Valentine's Day is just shy of 2 weeks away and  whether you're a couple or a single, i'm sure you've seen that romance is in the air! Or at least that the heart shaped candy has been restocked for another year at drug stores and grocery stores.

This year, like many others, Tim and I have opted for a relaxing night at home. We'll order in some food (probably pizza) and watch movies on the couch with our other valentine Goose! For those that don't know who Goose is, he's our soon to be 4 year old, rescue dog that we adopted in May of last year.

So since I'll just be staying home this year my outfit will consist of sweat pants and a comfy shirt, but, that doesn't mean I'm gonna miss out on the opportunity to dress up like it's Valentine's Day to the days leading up!

In this look I went with a wrap velvet, floral print dress I got on sale from Suzy Shier. Now a floral dress alone doesn't scream hearts and love to me so I had to add the unbreakable duo of red and pink! This pink beret is decked out in tiny pearls which went perfectly with the faux leather blush pink jacket! The red Mary Janes added the perfect touch of red that complemented the red lip which tied the whole look together!

Let me know in the comments what your plans for the big day are!

Love always,

Style is a Way to Say Who You Are Without Having to Speak

Finding your own style

It's so easy to find a blogger you like and completely copy their exact outfit. Especially with apps like and Instagram. But the question is do you like their style or do you like them as a blogger/person/influencer that draws you more and more to be exactly like them, looks wise. I'm gonna share my tips on how to find your style and be yourself.

1. First and foremost the most important thing about individual style is confidence. Let's say you see this amazing dress with laser cutouts and patterns and you think "wow that's the coolest dress I've ever seen, but I could never pull it off." Just with that thought, no you couldn't pull it off because the outfit would be screaming and you'd be whispering. You want to wear your garments, don't let your garment wear you.

2. Find out what you like. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but don't take it too far. You like someone's hair cut? Go for it. You like a top they wore? Buy it. Just don't get lost in trying to copy completely because you'll end up losing your personal sense of style and only know how to copy+paste from one person onto you.

3. Try it on. Always try it on no matter what! You'll never know what style flatters your figure until you try it on. Once you know how to dress your body, finding your personal style will be much more simple.

Farewell to 2017: Year in Review

2017. Oh 2017 you were full of ups and downs but the ups were amazing so all in all I'd say it was a rather fantastic year.

1. I started off the year going to Cuba! It was my first time going, and spending 7 days around the pool with my mom and sister,  (eating, drinking and reading) was just the perfect way to kick off the new year!
2. I moved out my house I bought with my sister and into an apartment. I loved my house and my dog but it financially was draining me.
3. Tim and I moved in together! Yay! We always wanted to live in an apartment downtown and now that we do, it's everything I've wanted and more! So close to everything, in the summer I would walk everywhere and now that it's winter I take the bus outside the apartment, super easy to get everywhere!
4. We adopted Goose! The only thing missing after we moved downtown was having a loving dog. So when Goose pretty much fell into our lap we immediately said yes without even thinking and took him in as a foster me first dog before officially adopting him in July!
5. We went to Quebec City for our 2 year anniversary! It's no secret that Tim and I love Quebec City. He took me there after we'd only been dating for 3 months and I fell in love with this city!
6. I turned 24! I'm proud to say there were no tears! This birthday was honestly my favourite off all birthdays. Everyone I invited actually showed up! Which for any of you mid December babies know how hard it is to wrangle a group together a week before Christmas!

So those are my most memorable moments of 2017! Come on 2018, can we top this? We can try!

Rockin Around the Christmas Tree: 2017

Oh Christmas tree! Oh Christmas tree! Christmas has come and gone! It's been another successful year of shopping, baking, family, friends and Christmas specials! It's without a doubt my favourite time of year and this year I was spoiled rotten to the point where I said, enough gifts!! Though I'm very appreciative of all that I received.

This year was particularly special because this is Tim and my 3rd Christmas together and the first time he's come to my parents house for the holiday. Usually he has to work so we got very lucky this year! He loved our Christmas and I'm thrilled about that because it's very important for me.

First thing in the morning (I slept over) before anyone was awake or come over, I got up and cut up bread and peeled carrots making sure there was less on the to-do list for later. Once my sister, Amanda and my brother, Jordan, got there we all opened our stockings. Every year we all sit on my parents bed and laugh and make jokes and open stockings, then we went down stairs and opened gifts.

We had everyone over for dinner, (all 14 of us) and drinks. It was really nice spending time with my family. Since I don't live at home, I don't get to see my grandparents as much as I'd like to, even though we live in the same city. All our jobs can get in the way of quality time.

I wanna hear all about your Christmases! Tell me below!

Happy Birthday To Ya! : 24

Twenty four. Not a big number but for me feels like too much of an adult! Monday the 18th was my 24th birthday and boy was it one of the books! A huge thank you to all my friends and family who came out to make me feel special!

On the Sunday night myself, Tim and 9 of my closest friends met up at Bier Markt for dinner and drinks! The food is spectacular! Tim and I shared a Swiss cheese fondue and it was incredible! Then again when is hot gooey cheese and bread not incredible. My photographer friend Finn, brought me what I consider to be one of the most thoughtful gifts I could think of. He brought me a pack of Polaroid film and his camera so I could instantly capture the moments. No editing, no "can you take one more I don't look good", just raw moments memorialized in a Polaroid that I know I'll cherish forever.

The morning of my actual birthday we got up and went to Baker Street Cafe, my favourite breakfast spot. With posters or Led Zeppelin and the Beatles taped to walls and the best darn breakfast potatoes how could it not be? Oh and did I mention they make delicious cinnamon buns the size of your head that you can take home? Needless to say when hunger strikes for lunch time, that's what I immediately gravitated towards.

Next, we went back home to pick up my baby Goose, and headed to pets mart to pick up dog toys to donate to the pups that don't have a furever home for Christmas and went around to say hi to all the cats and dogs. Goose wasn't as thrilled to be there as he recognized that he'd been there before and was anxious we'd leave him there so he wouldn't stop crying. Poor boy.

After that we picked up my Nana and went to my parents for shrimp red Thai curry and lemon poppyseed cheesecake all homemade by my lovely mother!  I got a keeper for sure.

Needless to say, anyone who knows me knows I love birthdays, mine or otherwise, but this one was very special to me and I'll always remember.
